Portugal at the Forefront of Innovation-Driven AI Regulation

AI is advancing rapidly, transforming industries, the society, and impacting every aspect of our lives.
AI advancements bring risks, ethical dilemmas and challenges.
There is a lack of available knowledge about the true risks and potential of AI in our society.

Portugal can lead by example with the implementation of the AI Act, by effectively combining the strengths of key stakeholders.

Our Vision for AI Regulation

A Multi-Disciplinary Approach

Ethics

Ethics must be at the core of AI regulation and of AI development to ensure technological advancements align with human-centric values.

Law

Implementing the AI Act requires navigating complex legal frameworks to balance innovation with the protection of fundamental rights.

Literacy

Enhancing AI literacy is crucial for empowering society to understand the implications of AI, ensuring informed and responsible use of technologies.

Involving a Broad Range of Stakeholders

We believe AI Regulation can only be effectively implemented if we can find synergies between public administration, academia, industry and civil society.

Creating Science for Policy through collaboration

We aim to empower decision-makers in Portugal with scientific insights and concrete recommendations from experts to guide the implementation of the AI Act.

For once, Portugal doesn’t need, and cannot, simply follow others. We have the capability to set an example for Europe in implementing the AI Act with the collaboration of all stakeholders.
